The winner is Jouni Valkjaervi. I reached a 5th place after a lost play-off against Torgny Kjellstroem, and Norbert reached a 7th place. Norbert and I played relatively well, but I couldn't defend my title. Things didn't work out as well as last year, but nevertheless it was a great time again. And I think we've left a good impression of our club and, in general, Minigolf sport in Germany.
The weather was pretty good - no rain the whole week - only the strong wind on Sunday was a bit disturbing. But there you are if you play on a course at the Seafront. We had a warm welcome there and I met so many nice people. Many thanks to the course owners, the Wood family, and the members of the Kent Mini Golf Club. It was really hard work to prepare the course for the competition. Numerous damages on the felt surface caused by material defects required a partly replacement of the felt, what they managed within a few days.
The course is a real challenge. We've found aceable lines on almost all lanes, but it needs very precise shots and a good ball selection and preparation to make aces. But that's why we play Minigolf.
And I think we made a great BoF ball GBRO 2006! I used it on 4 lanes at the Margate course, and I'm sure it is useful on most British courses. The Swedes and Czechs and some British players used it too. So, dear British players, don't hesitate too long to buy one. Maybe it'll be sold out soon.
If possible I'll return next year and play the next BO (I think Norbert is tempted too). Maybe my advertisement will bring more German players to the next BO. I've suggested (to the BMGA) a team ranking for the BO, that undoubtedly would be an additional motivation for German players to come over. And I hope the BMGA will take into consideration that we have two league matches in September next year.
